Description
Through meta-narratives and cultural artifacts, these films introduce a larger point of view on the construction of collective identity. Identity, like the history from which it derives, can be forged through the constructs of family, or nation, or even one’s favourite football club. No matter if we accept or reject these identities, they form a profoundly intimate part of us. These films struggle to come to terms with the fact that though we may criticise our society, we are inextricably linked to it. Furthermore, they remind us that we are both a product of our environment and an actor that shapes it.
